A One-Pot Hydrothermal Preparation of High Loading Ni/La2O3 Catalyst for Efficient Hydrogenation of Cinnamaldehyde

It is a challenging task for selective hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde (CAL) to hydrocinnamaldehyde (HCAL) without additional by-product formation. In this work, La2O3 supported high Ni content nanoparticle catalyst was prepared CAL hydrogenation. Meanwhile, Co-La2O3 catalysts were used as reference catalyst. XRD, TEM, STEM-HAADF, XPS, and H2-TPR measurements investigate the physicochemical properties Ni-La2O3 catalysts. The experimental results confirmed that conversion HCAL selectivity effectively promoted with increase loading amounts. At Ni/La molar ratio four, 87.4% obtained at 88.1% under mild reaction conditions. recycled five times activity loss. Combined various characterizations, it could be inferred good hydrogen adsorption dissociation capacity presence certain amount oxygen vacancies on support have positive effect improvement selectivity. This work provided an effective path design transition-metal-based oxide hydrocinnamaldehyde.
